Alwar, Dec. 18 -- Three people were charred to death and one sustained injuries in a road accident on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway on Wednesday morning, police said. According to an officer, a pickup vehicle travelling from Delhi to Jaipur collided with another vehicle near Channel Number 131 under the Reni police station area. After the collision, the pickup vehicle caught fire immediately. People present at the spot attempted to rescue the occupants, but the fire spread rapidly, leaving no chance to save them. Three occupants of the pickup were trapped inside and were burnt alive. The pickup vehicle's driver sustained injuries and was rushed to hospital, from where he was referred to Jaipur due to his critical condition. Reni police reached the spot soon after receiving information and initiated an investigation. The charred bodies have been kept at the Reni hospital mortuary. The identities of the deceased are yet to be ascertained. "The deceased have been identified as Mohit, a resident of Bahadurgarh in Haryana, and Dipendra and Padam, both residents of Sagar district in Madhya Pradesh. The injured driver has been identified as Hanni, a resident of Jhajjar in Haryana," a police officer said. "The front portion of the pickup vehicle was completely damaged in the collision, due to which the occupants got trapped inside the vehicle. Further investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident and to identify the victims," he added....
