Jaipur, Aug. 14 -- The upcoming fourth session of the 16th Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, beginning September 1, will take up three key bills referred to the select committee in the previous session, people familiar with the matter said on Wednesday. These include the Rajasthan Coaching Centre (Regulation) Bill, 2025; the Rajasthan Land Revenue (Amendment and Validation) Bill, 2025; and the Rajasthan Groundwater (Conservation and Management) Authority Bill, 2024. The government also plans to introduce an amendment bill for the salary of MLAs, a legislator familiar with the development said, adding that a 10% hike in their basic monthly salary is likely. An MLA currently earns about Rs.1.47 lakh per month. The pension amount for former MLAs is also expected to be increased, the MLA said. Currently, former legislators in Rajasthan receive a monthly pension of Rs.35,000 for one full term. For each additional year served beyond five years, an extra Rs.1,600 is added. Meanwhile, state Assembly speaker Vasudev Devnani has directed all additional chief secretaries, principal secretaries, and secretaries of state government departments to ensure that replies to all questions raised by MLAs during the third session of the 16th Rajasthan Legislative Assembly are sent to the Assembly by August 27.
