Jaipur, July 6 -- A 25-year-old man was beaten to death by a mob in Rajasthan's Bhilwara district on Friday night after his car accidentally collided with a vendor's handcart in Jahajpur market, prompting police to detain three people and book 36 others for murder. Sitaram Keer, a resident of Tonk, was pulled from his vehicle and brutally assaulted with rods and sticks by a group of 30-40 people despite apologising and offering to pay for damages to the cart, police said. The incident has sparked tensions in the area. Additional police forces from 10 local stations have been deployed across the town to monitor the situation, which officials described as now being "under control". Keer and three friends - Sikandar, Dilkhush, and Deepak - were returning home after attending a function at Jahajpur. Their car, driven by Sikandar, accidentally hit the handcart belonging to Shareef Mohammed (62) in the local market area on Friday night. "The collision led to a verbal clash between both parties. Soon, a crowd gathered and started beating Sitaram and his friends," said Bhilwara superintendent of police Dharmendra Singh. "Sitaram was pulled from the car and brutally assaulted despite apologising repeatedly. The mob continued attacking him with rods and sticks, causing multiple severe injuries." With their car damaged by the mob, locals and Keer's friends rushed him to hospital on a motorcycle. Doctors declared him dead on arrival. Police registered a case against 16 identified and 20 unidentified people at Jahajpur police station under sections 103 (murder) and 189 (unlawful assembly) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita on Saturday morning. Three people have been detained: Shareef Mohammed, his son Rais Mohammed (35), and another person whose identity has not been revealed. "Multiple teams have been formed to identify all perpetrators and arrest them. We are also examining CCTV footage," Singh said. The incident sparked protests by the local Hindu community and the victim's family, who demanded Rs 1 crore compensation from the government and immediate arrest of all accused. In response to escalating tensions, the Bhilwara district administration suspended Muharram rallies scheduled for Saturday and Sunday in Jahajpur....
