Teachers seek Rs.50L for deceased BLOs
Jaipur, Nov. 21 -- After the death of two booth level officers in four days during the SIR, the government teachers in Rajasthan on Thursday demanded a Rs.50 lakh compensation for the victims' families and action against their supervisors.
In a memorandum to the chief secretary V Srinivas and chief election officer Naveen Mahajan on Thursday, Rajya Karmchari Samyukt Mahasangh (a government teachers' association), said, "The death of a Jaipur-based BLO... by suicide, is a shameful incident for the state government that betrayed the employees with an autocratic bureaucracy. This autocracy of the officers has unleashed a horrifying situation for the teachers who have been employed for non-teaching work of BLOs that are being forced to end their lives."
"Across the state, the local officials of the district administrations are constantly threatening the BLOs of suspending them if any mistake takes place. This situation has now led them to work for 12 to 18 hours daily for the SIR which is causing depression," the memorandum stated.
The association has demanded suitable action against officers who have been threatening BLOs or unleashing any "autocratic" pressure on them during the SIR work.
"To ensure that no such mishap takes place further in the state, such officials should be identified and suspended immediately. The government must also direct all their officers to treat the BLOs properly. The families of the victims should also be provided with a Rs.50 lakh compensation while at least one member of their families must also get a job in any government department," it said.
The development also comes days after the government school teachers wrote to the CEO over mounting pressure for the Booth Level Officers across the state....
