Bharatpur, Feb. 10 -- A 59-year-old teacher killed himself five months before his retirement, leaving a four-page suicide note alleging torture by the school principal and colleagues in Alwar district, police said on Monday. Baddan Lal Balai, a resident of Nirbhampura village under Akbarpur police station limits, taught history at the state government senior secondary school in Dehlawas village. Family members found him dead in a tin shed near their home on Sunday evening. He was rushed to the district hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Police then handed the body over to the family after a post-mortem. Seema Sinsinwar, in charge of Akbarpur police station, said, "It appears that the teacher killed himself. His son, Chandra Prakash, registered a complaint alleging that the school principal and other teachers tortured him. We received a photocopy of the suicide note from the kin and will investigate the matter." In the note, Balai stated he was about to complete 38 years of government service, including 25 years at the Dehlawas school. "Four-five years ago, I was paralysed due to a brain stroke during my son's wedding. School principal AK Mishra and other school teachers made fun of my facial paralysis," he wrote. He accused the principal of forcing him to do extra work and refusing leave, while "alcoholic teachers used to abuse me". Balai demanded legal action against the principal and teachers, who he claimed forced him to take his life. He stated in his note that the stroke condition worsened daily, but he could not take leave, while colleagues offered no support during his illness....
