Barmer, Nov. 14 -- The state's Tarbandi Yojana, launched to install protective fencing around farmlands, has only achieved 10.23% of the total target, according to the latest official data.
Out of the 30 million metres of fencing targeted statewide during current financial year, only 3,067,984 metres have been completed till date.
Jaisalmer district leads the state with 25.21% achievement, followed by Tonk (24.54%) and Dausa-Kushalgarh (21.47%). Jodhpur ranks fourth with 20.71%, while Bhilwara follows at 19%.
In contrast, districts such as Banswara (0.84%), Sri Ganganagar (0.53%), Bali (0%), and Phalodi (0%) have made little or no progress. Jaipur (7.02%), Udaipur (6.47%), and Barmer (5.16%) also remain far behind targets.
Officials have claimed the slow progress to multiple reasons, including administrative delays and seasonal factors. Deputy Director of the Agriculture Department, Padam Singh Bhati, said, "The fencing work naturally slows down during the Kharif season. From May to November, farmers are fully engaged in agricultural activities and avoid taking up additional work like fencing," he said. HTC...
