JODHPUR, July 27 -- The Rajasthan high court has directed the district collector of Pratapgarh and the principal secretary to take immediate steps to address critical deficiencies in infrastructure and teaching staff at 11 schools in Dhariyabad. The order was passed by the division bench of justices Munnuri Laxman and Ravi Chirania on Friday, during the hearing of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Gulab Chand Meena. The PIL highlighted the severe shortcomings in the educational setup at these schools, particularly the lack of qualified teachers and poor infrastructure. The court observed that, according to data provided by the respondents, nearly 50% of the teacher vacancies remain unfilled, with schools operating at less than 50% of the sanctioned teacher strength. The situation has persisted for the past two years, with no significant steps taken to address the issue.
