Jaipur, Nov. 22 -- Rajasthan's rural map has undergone a major reshuffle with the state government issuing the notification for the reorganization of panchayats on Friday. A senior official familiar with the development said Panchayats across 41 districts have been restructured, adding nearly 3,400 new gram panchayats. With this expansion, the total number of panchayats in the state has risen from 11,194 to more than 14,000, marking one of the biggest administrative overhauls in recent years. Experts believe that this notification carries political significance as well, with panchayat and municipal elections scheduled for next year. The fresh boundaries will directly influence local political equations. Each newly created panchayat will require a new sarpanch, deputy sarpanch, and ward panch positions, dramatically increasing the total number of elected posts. Upcoming elections will now be conducted under this new panchayat structure. The desert districts have seen the maximum increase in new panchayats due to relaxed criteria. The reorganization process began a year ago, with proposals sought from districts and sent to the Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Department. Residents in remote desert and tribal regions - such as Barmer, Jaisalmer, Phalodi, Bikaner, and Churu - are expected to benefit the most. Earlier, villagers often had to travel long distances to reach panchayat headquarters because a single panchayat served multiple villages. Smaller jurisdictions will now mean quicker access to government services, saving both time and effort. The creation of new panchayats will also boost employment. Posts for gram sevaks, patwaris, and panchayat assistants are set to increase, opening avenues for new recruitments. Upcoming government job notifications will also include additional posts based on the expanded structure. In Jaipur, 20 panchayat samitis have been reorganized. These include Jamwaramgarh, Dudu, Fagi, Aandhi, Chaksu, Kotkhavda, Bassi, Tunga, Jalsu, Jobner, Govindgarh, Shahpura, Viratnagar, Mojmabad, Madhorajpura, Sambhar Lake, Jhotwara, Amer, Sanganer, and Kishangarh-Renwal. Sanganer, the constituency of chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, is among those affected....
