State assembly evacuated after receiving bomb threat
Jaipur, April 25 -- The Rajasthan legislative assembly received another bomb threat on Friday, triggering a high alert and a massive security response. The threat was sent via the assembly's official email ID, prompting authorities to immediately evacuate the premises and launch an intensive search operation, officials said on Friday.
According to officials, the threat email was received at around 9.15 am.
The message warned of a "suicide blast at 1 pm" inside the assembly and contained a provocative and alarming statement.
Following the alert, bomb disposal squads and multiple security agencies rushed to the spot.
The entire assembly complex was evacuated, and officials and employees were moved to safety. Security teams conducted a thorough search of the premises, scanning every corner for nearly three hours.
However, no suspicious object was found. After the operation concluded, authorities allowed officials and staff to re-enter the building.
Reacting to the incident, former chief minister Ashok Gehlot expressed serious concern over the state of law and order. In a post on social media, he said it was "extremely unfortunate" that the assembly - a temple of democracy - was being repeatedly targeted with such threats.
He pointed out that similar threats had been received in recent days and alleged that the repeated targeting of high-security institutions indicates that criminals have become emboldened and no longer fear the law.
Gehlot also noted that the chief minister has received multiple threats in the past, stressing that such incidents are a matter of concern for everyone, irrespective of political affiliations.
He warned that threats to key institutions such as the High Court, district collectorates, and other government offices are creating a sense of insecurity among the public.
Highlighting the gravity of the situation, he said that if criminals can openly challenge highly sensitive locations and top leadership, it raises serious questions about public safety.
He added that despite such threats continuing for nearly six months, the main culprits remain at large, suggesting that security agencies have not yet succeeded in dismantling the network behind these incidents.
Gehlot urged the chief minister to take direct cognisance of the matter and issue strict instructions to the police to ensure that those responsible are swiftly identified and brought to justice, restoring public confidence in safety and security....
