solar energy capacity higher by 19K MW in last 2 yrs: min
Jaipur, Nov. 27 -- Energy minister Hiralal Nagar on Wednesday said Rajasthan has emerged as the country's leading state in renewable and solar energy due to the sustained efforts of the state government.
Addressing the two-day Global Solar Expo-2025, Nagar announced that the state's installed solar power capacity has now reached 35,357 MW, with nearly 19,000 MW added in just the last two years under the leadership of chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma. This achievement, he said, reflects Rajasthan's strong commitment to advancing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's target of making India a net-zero nation by 2070.
Nagar highlighted that the PM-KUSUM scheme has empowered farmers by turning them into both food producers and energy providers. Under the scheme, decentralised solar power plants with a combined capacity of about 2,400 MW have already been installed in Rajasthan, enabling farmers to access affordable and uninterrupted daytime electricity for agricultural needs, said the minister.
He noted that the central government aims to develop 500 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity by 2030, and Rajasthan is fully dedicated to contributing to this goal.
Nagar said thet Rajasthan's vast western region naturally offers ideal conditions for solar power generation, making it a prime destination for renewable energy investments. He assured investors that the state government will provide all necessary facilities for setting up industries in the renewable sector....
