SOG arrests four over crude oil theft from IOCL pipeline
Jaipur, March 15 -- The Special Operation Group (SOG) in Rajasthan on Saturday arrested four people, including the "mastermind", in a racket that ran a crude oil theft operation by tunnelling into Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) pipelines across the state, officials said.
Additional director general of the SOG, Vishal Bansal, said, "The FIR was lodged by the management of the IOCL in 2023 against some unidentified people who stole petroleum products by illegally tunnelling into the pipelines in a village in Pali. Such tunnelling also caused risk of fire. After a through investigation, we finally arrested the mastermind of the racket from Beaawar along with his three other aides."
The prime accused was identified as Jeetendra Singh (31), along with Devendra Singh (32), Pratap Sher Singh (31), and Prem Singh (48).
"SOG is also searching for another accused Pankaj, who helped them in solving various technological barriers during the mission. Pankaj is a resident of Gujarat and has at least six cases on his name in connection with oil theft at various places in that state," said Bansal.
According to police, Jeetendra plotted the entire plan and then called Pankaj to help them in tunnelling into the high-pressured pipelines which needs specific technical experience.
"They had a deal with Pankaj that he will solve those issues with his expertise and Jeetendra will bear the cost. Later, they agreed that they will also share the earnings equally among the five after selling those petroleum products," said Bansal.
As per the plan, they made two attempts to extract oil. "They built a concealed chamber, dug the pipelines, and then installed a valve to extract oil. They also brought a tanker at night to get the oil. While it failed on the first attempt due to low flow of oil in the pipelines, they were successful in stealing it in a tanker next day," said Bansal....
