SMS hospital performs Raj's 1st robotic surgery for saddle bag hernia
Jaipur, June 4 -- The Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital in Jaipur on Tuesday conducted the state's first robotic surgery for Pantaloons (Saddle Bag) hernia, people familiar with the matter said.
"The surgery was performed on 42-year-old Hanuman Sahai Sharma, a resident of Ramgarh in Dausa, who was admitted to the hospital on May 27 with a left inguinal hernia. During the operation, surgeons discovered that the patient was suffering from both direct and indirect hernia sacs, a condition that required a highly precise surgical approach," said Dr Narendra Sharma, who conducted the procedure.
He said that the Department of Surgery opted for robotic-assisted surgery to ensure minimal blood loss and quicker recovery through smaller incisions. "After a thorough preoperative assessment by Dr Rajendra Mandia, Dr Shalu Gupta and Dr Jeevan Kankaria, the patient was cleared for robotic surgery."
"The patient has made a full recovery post-operation and is in stable condition. The entire procedure was conducted free of cost under the chief minister Ayushman Arogya Yojana, making this milestone not only a medical success but also a testament to the expanding reach of accessible healthcare in Rajasthan," he added.....
