Sharma slams Congress, hails BJP for 'honest work'
Jaipur, June 29 -- Sleight of hand by a Jaadugar and honest hard work are the differences between the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party government, said the chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma days after the former CM Ashok Gehlot slammed the BJP saying that they are hatching a conspiracy to remove him.
Addressing an event on Bhamashah Samman Samaroh Diwas in Jaipur on Saturday, without naming anyone, Sharma said, "Five years (of the previous Congress government) and one-and-half-year (of the new BJP government) are a huge difference. Our opposition leaders cannot hear those differences. But, I would suggest that they should make it a practice to hear all these. A sleight of hand by a Jaadugar (a name that Gehlot is known with in the state politics) and honest hard work are the big differences between the two governments."
CM's statement came days after Gehlot called Sharma 'naive' who is unable to figure out an ongoing conspiracy against him.
"There is a major conspiracy going on to remove Bhajanlal Sharma, but he does not realise it. We have been warning him repeatedly. If he remains under an illusion, it will eventually harm him. Leaders around him are only offering praise while the situation in the state is actually very serious," he said.
During his visit in Jodhpur on Wednesday, he added: "We are in the Opposition. The issues raised by the people or covered in the media are what we speak on. But the CM believes we are simply making political accusations, which is not the case."
"A young leader has been given a big opportunity-he became chief minister in his first term as an MLA. That is a significant moment. It should be preserved. What is the benefit of changing faces again and again?" he added.
Warning the chief minister about being misled by sycophants, Gehlot said, "The CM is surrounded by people who keep telling him the government is doing well. But the reality on the ground is different, and the public is suffering. If he speaks privately with grassroots workers at his residence, he'll know what the true situation is."
CM Sharma responded to Gehlot's remarks by saying, "The opposition leaders should see the hard work of me and my cabinet colleagues to deliver the promises we made to the people. We, together, bring Rajasthan towards the direction of development."
Referring to the works done by his government in the education sector in the last one years, he said, "The state government has taken many revolutionary steps to provide accessible, modern and inclusive education to every child in the state. ICT labs have been set up in about 14 thousand government schools to provide digital education to children. Also, smart class-rooms have been started in 13 thousand government schools. We have started pre-primary classes in 402 PM Shri schools which are providing a strong foundation to the children at the early stage itself."
"Our government has always considered empowerment of daughters as its priority. In this direction, an amount of more than Rs 90 crore has been provided to 2 lakh 27 thousand girls under the Gargi Award and Girl Child Incentive Scheme through DBT," he added....
