Sharma hails Centre for its help in development of Raj
Jaipur, April 30 -- Lauding the Centre for its support in enhancing the state's power systems and urban infrastructure, chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Tuesday said the state government was working to achieve the vision of a developed Rajasthan, with the energy and urban development departments playing a pivotal role.
"Our double-engine government is effectively implementing welfare schemes on the ground, benefiting over 8 crore (80 million) citizens of the state," Sharma said during a state-level review meeting of the energy and urban development departments with Union minister for housing, urban affairs, and power Manohar Lal, at the Chief Minister's residence.
He also directed officials to ensure timely completion of joint Centre-State projects through effective coordination with the central government.
"The government is working with the goal of providing daytime electricity to the state's farmers by 2027," he said while emphasising the significant role of the PM-KUSUM scheme in achieving this target, under which nearly 800 megawatts of decentralised solar power plants have been established in the state within a short span. He also directed officials to ensure proper maintenance of power generation units and transmission systems to guarantee sufficient electricity supply to consumers.
The CM said the central government has been consistently supporting efforts to strengthen the power infrastructure in the state. "Earlier, due to the policies of the previous state government, the thermal power units were facing a coal supply crisis, but with the Centre's support, the state's thermal plants now have an adequate coal supply."
He highlighted that during the Rabi season, the state government ensured uninterrupted electricity supply to farmers and successfully met the peak power demand of 19,165 megawatts recorded since February.
The chief minister welcomed the central government's support in allocating temporary power from the central generation plants' common pool.
Sharma also urged Khattar to increase power allocation to the state during peak hours to match rising demand, to which the latter gave a positive assurance.
The Union minister praised the state's outstanding work in the energy sector, particularly in the field of renewable energy. "The state government has made remarkable progress under the PM-KUSUM scheme and the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana," Khattar said.
He highlighted that Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam earned profits exceeding Rs.355 crore by December in the financial year 2024-25. He also emphasised the need to rapidly develop pump storage and battery storage capacities in the state to ensure uninterrupted power supply to consumers during peak hours.
"Rajasthan is among the leading states in the country under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. The scheme is helping provide pollution-free and affordable energy," Khattar added....
