Jaipur, Oct. 27 -- Chief minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Sunday said that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel rebuilt the nation through his farsightedness- strengthening the country politically and economically, and showing that national interest could surmount any obstacle. Speaking at the preliminary workshop held at Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium in Jaipur to mark the upcoming 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the chief minister announced that a three-day 8-10 kilometre march will be organised in every district across all parliamentary constituencies. During the march, citizens will pay tribute to Sardar Patel and take a pledge for a self-reliant India, he said. Yoga and health camps, debates, and cultural programmes will also be held, added the chief minister. Under the "One District-One Sport" initiative, local traditional games will be organized in each district, said Sharma. Sardar Patel's vision of a united nation led him to help resolve the uncertain future of over 500 princely states by integrating them into the nation, said Sharma, adding that he also defied international pressure and was also responsible for the liberation of Hyderabad from the tyranny of the Nizam, through military intervention after independence. The chief minister also claimed that Article 370 had made Jammu and Kashmir a hub of extremism and separatism, but under PM Narendra Modi's strong leadership, the region integral to India, fulfilling Patel's unfinished dream. Sharma said Patel believed not only in political integration but also in economic independence. He recalled that inspired by Patel, the Kheda Satyagraha was initiated through the Swadeshi Dairy Committee to protect farmers and dairy producers from economic exploitation, laying the the foundation for Amul, one of the world's largest dairy cooperatives, he said. On Constitution Day (November 26), two participants selected from each district participate in a 152 kilometre-long march from Patel's birthplace in Karamsad to the Statue of Unity in Kevadia, joining other participants from across the country, he said. BJP state president Madan Rathore appealed to party workers to actively participate in the Unity March on October 31 to make it a success.
