Bharatpur/Jhunjhunu, Dec. 9 -- Six members of a gang allegedly hired for Rs.15 lakh to kill a Gujarat-based woman doctor, along with the man who hired them, have been arrested in Jhunjhunu, police said on Monday. Jhunjhunu SP Brijesh Jyoti Upadhyay said, "On November 21, a few men had opened fire at a wine shop under Pilani police station after a liquor contractor refused to pay extortion money. After a complaint was registered, a police team was formed to trace those involved in the firing and ransom demand," he said. Police later identified one of the accused, Himanshu Jat, who confessed to firing at the wine shop to demand ransom. "During interrogation, he revealed that another accused, Anuj Sharma, had offered his gang members Rs.15 lakh to kill a woman doctor in Gujarat," Upadhyay said. Before they could carry out the plan, police tracked and arrested the accused from different areas of Gujarat and Rajasthan. The main accused, Sharma, 22, is a resident of Pilod under Surajgarh police station limits. The other arrested gang members were identified as Manoj Meghwal, 30, Akash Meghwal, 21, Sachin Meghwal, 24, Himanshu Jat, 19, and Bhupendra Meghwal, 20 - all natives of Jhunjhunu. According to police, Manoj and Akash contacted their associates in Jaipur and procured illegal weapons from Uttar Pradesh. They then travelled to Gujarat to execute the killing but backed off after noticing CCTV cameras near the doctor's residence. "Sharma forced them to go ahead with the plan, and they decided to carry out the murder after attending a friend's wedding," said the SP. Akash and Manoj were arrested from Jaipur, while Sharma was nabbed from Gujarat. Jat and Sachin were taken into custody from Jhunjhunu jail on production warrants. Upadhyay said Sharma worked in a transport company in Gujarat and had received the original contract from a Gujarat-based man to kill the doctor. "Police are conducting raids in Gujarat to arrest the person who planned the conspiracy ," he added....
