Barmer, June 18 -- The Barmer police has launched a manhunt for unidentified miscreants who allegedly rammed into the vehicle of the Quick Response Team (QRT), an officer said on Tuesday. "During routine patrolling, a team attempted to stop a suspicious black Scorpio without number plates parked on NH-68 near Kheteshwar Handicrafts around 10.50 pm on Monday. The vehicle's occupants - five to six people - were reportedly consuming alcohol inside the SUV," Narendra Singh Meena, superintendent of police (SP). "When the QRT team attempted to intercept the vehicle, the driver suddenly started the car and rammed the SUV into the QRT's Bolero in an attempt to escape. In response, the police commandos fired two rounds aimed at the front tyres of the Scorpio, trying to immobilise it. Despite the gunfire, the suspects fled the scene, taking advantage of the darkness. We are treating this as a serious offence," he further said. The SP said a case has been registered under Sections 109(1) and 132 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and Section 3 of the PDPP Act. "Massive checkpoints have been set up across Barmer district to track down the suspects. Police are also scanning CCTV footage to identify the culprits," he added....
