Jaipur, Oct. 16 -- The Supreme Court Bench of Chief Justice BR Gavai and Justice K Vinod Chandran on Wednesday dismissed a PIL seeking to halt the ongoing Rajasthan Mandapam and Ekta Mall Project in Jaipur, seeking to declare the said land as Forest Land. AAG Shiv Mangal Sharma said the Court was hearing an application filed by certain applicants alleging the project site at Dol-ka-Bad, Tehsil Sanganer, Jaipur was forest land and sought protection under the Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980. After considering the submissions by the state, including one that said no trees have been cut at the site, the Supreme Court dismissed the PIL application noting that the land was not forest land and that the petition was devoid of merit....
