Jaipur, June 3 -- Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) president and Lok Sabha MP Hanuman Beniwal said on Monday that officials, under political protection, have altered the maps of Rajasthan's Sariska (Alwar) and Nahargarh (Jaipur) wildlife sanctuaries to benefit hotel owners and mining operators. He said on X that he had raised this issue in Parliament during the budget session, demanding the protection of forests and wildlife. Despite directions from the Supreme Court and the National Green Tribunal (NGT), Beniwal noted that commercial activities continue in these eco-sensitive zones, with authorities limiting their action to mere notices. He claimed over a dozen hotels are operating illegally in Alwar's Silisedh area and the Ajabgarh-Jamwaramgarh range, violating court orders. "In Rajasthan, a scheme has been initiated under political protection by officials to alter the maps of Sariska (located in Alwar) and Nahargarh (located in Jaipur) wildlife sanctuaries, with the intent of benefiting hotel owners and mining operators. I raised this issue during the Budget Session of the Lok Sabha, demanding the protection of forests and wildlife," he said in the post. "Despite the directions of the Supreme Court and the National Green Tribunal (NGT), commercial activities are still being carried out in the eco-sensitive zones of these sanctuaries. However, the Rajasthan government and responsible officials are content with merely issuing notices and taking no real action," he said. "In Alwar's Silisedh area, more than a dozen hotels are operating, and a similar number of hotels are running in the Ajabgarh-Jamwaramgarh range, all in blatant violation of Supreme Court decisions and directives," he added "In response to the issue I raised in the Lok Sabha, Union Minister for Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, Bhupendra Yadav, sent me a letter informing me that the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, Government of India, has requested a full report on the matter from the Additional Chief Secretary (Forest), Government of Rajasthan, and has also issued the necessary instructions to the Rajasthan government." BJP spokesperson Laxmikant Bharadwaj said that the government takes legal action against any unauthorized activities and is committed to the protection of wildlife and the preservation of forest land....
