India, Aug. 6 -- The 71st National Film Awards sparked buzz as actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, and Vikrant Massey were honoured for their film projects. While the film industry celebrated its moment of glory, television actor Rupali Ganguly raised a key question: why is Indian TV still overlooked at these prestigious awards? In a conversation with paparazzi account Viral Bhayani, Rupali said, "There are National Awards for everyone from film stars to content creators. But there's nothing for TV artistes. Even during the pandemic, others had the advantage of delaying their shooting schedules, but we kept working. When a film star works continuously, it makes headlines. But no one talked about how we, the TV artistes, worked non-stop from 6am to 6pm during the pandemic. I request the government to consider us also. We work very hard; it'll be nice to have some validation." The 48-year-old also expressed hope that actor-politician Smriti Irani's comeback could steer the TV industry in that direction.
