RTO inspector killed in Kota road accident, one arrested
Jaipur, May 5 -- A day after a 37-year-old inspector in the Regional Transport Office (RTO) was killed when a speeding truck rammed into his vehicle near a toll plaza on national highway 52 in Kota on Saturday, the accused was arrested, police said.
"The incident took place on Saturday at around 7 pm when the RTO squad, including inspector Naresh Kumar, was checking the vehicles near Gopalpura Mataji toll plaza on NH-52. Kumar was sitting in the RTO car when a speeding truck hit his stationary vehicle, killing him on the spot. The other personnel escaped unhurt," SHO at Mandana police station Ajay Sharma said.
"Following the incident, the truck driver, later identified as Bhagchand Gurjar, left his truck and ran away towards a field. Our team launched a manhunt and found him in a bush seven to eight kilometres away from the accident spot. When we tried to catch him, he tried to flee however he stumbled over a stone and sustained some minor injuries on his leg," he further said.
"He was then detained and sent to a nearby hospital for treatment. We will arrest him soon he recovers. A case was lodged against Gurjar under BNS section 103 (1)," the SHO said, adding that the truck has been seized and Kumar's body has been sent for post-mortam examination....
