Jaipur, May 12 -- The Rajasthan State Human Rights Commission (RSHRC) on Monday took serious note of the recent maternal deaths and alleged medical negligence cases from state government hospitals, particularly Kota Medical College Hospital. In a strongly worded order, the Commission observed that quality healthcare is the responsibility of the government and that repeated incidents of negligence are raising serious concerns over Rajasthan's public health system. Referring to media reports, the Commission highlighted the deaths of several women after Caesarean deliveries at Kota Medical College Hospital, cases of kidney failure among patients, prolonged ICU admissions, and allegations of negligence. Notices have been issued to the Health Secretary, Director of Medical and Health Services, and Chief Secretary of Rajasthan, seeking a factual report on the maternal deaths and the state's healthcare preparedness.
