Row over argument between BLO, voters
Jaipur, Nov. 20 -- A political slugfest erupted in Rajasthan on Wednesday after a video of a heated argument between voters and a booth-level-officer (BLO) in Jaipur's Jhotwara went viral in which the former accused the latter of arbitrarily marking them "absent" without visiting their houses to distribute the enumeration form.
The incident took place at ward number 33 under Jhotwara's Raghunathpuri. In the purported video, a voter was heard saying, "How did you remove my name from the list? Referring to reported suicides linked to SIR pressure in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Bengal, Gehlot questioned why such a situation had arisen. He claimed doubts persisted that "specific communities" were being targeted, adding that the EC's approach "does not appear fair."
However, the election department issued an official statement saying that the BLO visited the particular voter's house twice but they were not present. As per the rules, she will visit them third and last time this week....
