retd teacher duped of Rs.3.66l, case registered
Ajmer, May 1 -- A case has been registered after a retired private school teacher was allegedly cheated of Rs.3.66 lakh by cyber criminals by luring her with a fake online advertisement, police said.
According to police, the victim came across a Facebook advertisement claiming that a rare Rs.5 currency note featuring a tractor symbol could be sold for Rs.48 lakh. As the teacher possessed a similar Rs.5 note, she contacted the mobile number mentioned in the advertisement.
The fraudsters first asked her to share photographs of the currency note and then demanded Rs.520 as a processing fee. Subsequently, they continued to extract money under various pretexts. The victim transferred a total amount of Rs.3.66 lakh to different bank accounts provided by the accused.
Cyber Police DSP Shamsher Khan said a case was registered based on a complaint filed late Wednesday by Mridula Sharma, a resident near the Gurudwara in Shastri Nagar, Ajmer. htc...
