Bharatpur, July 1 -- The Ranthambore forest administration has issued orders to keep five zones closed in Ranthambore for tourists from July 1 to September 30, officials familiar with the matter said on Monday. The move follows an order of the Supreme Court, said Anup KR, chief conservator of forests. According to officials, no tourist will be able to visit zones and tourism activities will remain completely closed during these three months. However, tourism activities will continue as normal in zones 6 to 10 of the buffer area, the officials added. Zones number one to five are considered the heart of Ranthambore and the maximum movement of tigers can be seen in these five zones. However, according to the guidelines of the Supreme Court and NTCA, the main zones of Ranthambore are closed for tourism activities for three months every year during the monsoon season. The monsoon season is considered to be the breeding period for vegetation and wildlife. Similarly, during the monsoon season, roads are also damaged at many places due to rain. There are rain drains at many places in Ranthambore's first five zones. Due to roads getting damaged, the lives of tourists are also at risk due to the high inflow of water.
