Raj's stone industry globally recognised: CM at 'Stonemart'
Jaipur, Feb. 6 -- Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Thursday said that the unique quality of Rajasthan's natural stones has earned global recognition and that the state's stone industry is now ready to scale new heights with strong government support.
Addressing the inaugural session of India Stonemart at the Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Centre (JECC), he urged entrepreneurs to work together to make Rajasthan's stone industry a national leader.
Sharma described India Stonemart as a symbol of "New Rajasthan" and a global platform showcasing the strength and potential of India's natural stone industry. He highlighted that the exhibition features a website in over 26 international languages, a digital mobile application and a large-scale exhibition area.
The chief minister said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, India is emerging as a global manufacturing hub. Initiatives such as 'Make in India' and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' have provided new direction and confidence to industries, he said, adding that Indian granite, marble and sandstone are globally renowned and the country is fast becoming a centre for value addition and innovation in stone exports.
Calling Rajasthan one of the safest and most attractive destinations for investment, Sharma said the state government has created a stable policy environment and introduced reforms such as a single-window system, improved industrial infrastructure, better logistics and simplified procedures to facilitate ease of doing business. He added that projects worth Rs.8 lakh crore have already begun under the Rs.35 lakh crore MoUs signed during the Rising Rajasthan Investment Summit.
Highlighting Rajasthan's rich mineral wealth, the CM said the state has around 85 types of minerals, with Makrana marble, Kishangarh marble and stones from Rajsamand, Jalore, Udaipur, Dungarpur and Banswara enjoying global recognition. He emphasised that skilled artisans and labourers are the backbone of the industry, adding that the government is prioritising worker safety and dignity through modern safety equipment, skill training, improved working conditions and fair wages.
