Raj ranks 2nd in states with most complaints over SC/ST atrocities
Jaipur, Aug. 8 -- Rajasthan was among the top three states in India in the last five years to register maximum number of complaints against Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe atrocities through National Helpline Against Atrocities (NHAA), according to the data provided by the Social Justice and Empowerment ministry in the Parliament.
Responding to a question raised by Randeep Singh Surjewala, the minister Ramdas Athwale on Wednesday shared a detailed data, according to which, Uttar Pradesh had the maximum complaints of 340,742 in a period between 2020 and 2025 followed by Chhattisgarh with 59,205, and Rajasthan with 40,228.
A further classification of the data also showed that 3,212 complaints in Rajasthan have been registered through NHAA in 2025 (as on July 31), while 6,255 in 2024, 12,438 in 2023, 16,217 in 2022, 1,614 in 2021, and 492 in 2020.
The NHAA helpline, launched in 2020, aims to address grievances of Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) and raise awareness about their legal rights.
Of the total cases in Rajasthan, an FIR has been lodged in 722 cases, of which 596 have been resolved and charge sheets have been registered in 46 cases, the government data stated.
While the top ranked state, Uttar Pradesh, registered a total of 15,368 cases of such crimes, Madhya Pradesh was third with 7,733 cases, Bihar fourth with 6,502 cases, and Odisha fifth with 2,902 cases....
