Barmer, June 20 -- In a significant step toward internal reform, Rajasthan Police has launched a fresh campaign targeting drug addiction within its own ranks. As part of the ongoing 'Operation Nasha Vihaan', a new phase titled 'Home Reform Campaign (Grah Sudhar Abhiyaan) will focus on identifying and rehabilitating police personnel addicted to opium, doda, and other narcotics. The initiative, spearheaded by Jodhpur Range Inspector General Vikas Kumar, covers six districts: Jodhpur, Barmer, Jaisalmer, Pali, Sirohi, and Jalore. The campaign is scheduled to begin within a week. Under this internal initiative, police officials posted at stations and in police lines who are found to be struggling with addiction will be enrolled in de-addiction programs at the district level. Superintendents of police in each district have been tasked with ensuring the effective implementation of the campaign. This inward-looking approach marks a strategic shift from public enforcement to self-regulation, aiming to build a stronger, healthier, and more accountable police force. "The campaign reflects a shift from public enforcement to internal reform. While Operation Nasha Vihaan has shown promising results in reducing narcotics use at the community level, recent internal assessments revealed instances of drug addiction among police personnel, particularly involving opium and doda," said an official requesting anonymity. "Operation Nasha Vihaan has already yielded positive results in raising public awareness across the Jodhpur Range. With the launch of the 'Home Reform Campaign', the focus now shifts inward-to identifying police personnel struggling with narcotic addiction and guiding them toward recovery through confidential and supportive rehabilitation programs," said Jodhpur Range IG Vikas Kumar. Sources familiar with the development said the police department has emphasised that the identity and treatment details of affected officers will be kept confidential to eliminate stigma and encourage voluntary participation. Personnel undergoing treatment will receive full support and adequate time to recover before returning to active duty. Officials further said that this internal reform is expected not only to enhance the operational efficiency of the force but also to boost public confidence in law enforcement. The dual focus on external enforcement and internal integrity marks a new chapter in Rajasthan Police's ongoing battle against drug addiction....
