Raj HC seeks details on construction in Mt Abu
JODHPUR, March 26 -- The Rajasthan high court has asked the state government to disclose how many construction permissions have been granted and how many applications rejected in Mount Abu after the implementation of the Zonal Master Development Plan.
The direction came from a bench of justices Pushpendra Singh Bhati and Sandeep Shah while hearing a PIL filed by residents of Sirohi district. During the hearing, additional advocate general Mahaveer Bishnoi informed the Court that some instances of illegal construction on forest land in Mount Abu had come to light. Action has already been taken in these cases, he said, adding that one illegal structure had been demolished while another had been taken over by the Forest Department.
He further submitted that in an earlier hearing, the High Court had directed that no construction activity be carried out anywhere in the Mount Abu area without the Court's permission, halting certain departmental works, including construction of anicuts in forest areas, have also come to a halt.
Another Additional Advocate General, Rajesh Panwar, urged the Court to allow construction activities that are being carried out with valid permissions to continue. However, the bench said that before granting any interim relief, the government must place complete details before the Court regarding the number of approvals granted and applications rejected since the Zonal Master Plan came into force. The Court also directed the state to submit the notification relating to the Zonal Master Plan as well as the declaration of the eco-sensitive zone.
The Court also directed that an expert officer be present on the next date of hearing to assist it on procedural aspects related to granting construction approvals. The matter has been listed for further hearing on April 7....
