Raj completes SIR, over 5.8mn unmapped voters
Jaipur, Dec. 7 -- Rajasthan completed its house-to-house survey under the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) process on Saturday, with over 5.8 million voters not mapping with the state's 2002 SIR list, as per official data.
According to the SIR status report, accessed by HT on Saturday, at least 4,309,922 voters of these 5.8 million were found to be dead, permanently shifted to a different place, or were absent during the survey which was categorised as "uncollected enumeration forms" in the report.
This figure, however, is from 199 out of 200 constituencies. In Anta, where a bypoll took place on November 11, SIR started only on December 2 and the corresponding figure from Anta is not immediately available.
The remaining 1,511,540 voters, meanwhile, could also not be mapped with the 2002 SIR list, showed data.
Chief electoral officer (CEO) of Rajasthan Election Department, Naveen Mahajan, said, "I am happy to announce that the house-to-house survey has been completed in the state on Saturday as all the EFs were digitally uploaded on the ECINet portal by our 52,222 BLOs. I am thankful to our entire team of BLOs, EROs, and AEROs along with the voters who cooperated with us and shared necessary information and data. This was a crucial democratic process and we will continue to do it with the same enthusiasm during the second phase of the process."
Rajasthan has a total of 54,656,215 voters in its current voter list - all of whom have been issued an enumeration form which were also uploaded to the ECINet portal by Saturday.
"Following the digitisation, the department maps a voter with the 2002 SIR list to check whether any of their parents' names already exist in the old list and also checks the ones who could not be found during the survey (the 'uncollected' information category). We will remove the names of the ones who died, permanently shifted, or had any duplicate entry in the voter lists. Meanwhile, a notice will also be issued to the ones who could not be mapped. They will have to produce certain documents to prove eligibility as a voter, failing which their names will be removed," said Mahajan.
However, he also added that a window will be opened for the next one month during which a voter may lodge an objection if their name has been removed mistakenly or they could not be present at their residence during the survey due to some unavoidable reasons, or might have not been mapped with the 2002 list mistakenly.
As per the report , at least 48.8 million contributing to 97% of the total voters will not have to produce any document as they could be mapped with the 2002 SIR list. A further classification of the report also showed that Jaipur had the maximum 19% such unmapped or uncollected names of the voters followed by 15% in Jodhpur, 10% in Bikaner, 14% in Kota, and 12% in Pali....
