Quarterly 'pension courts' to tackle pending cases in state
Jaipur, Feb. 21 -- The state government has decided to organise quarterly "Pension Courts" to address the growing number of pending pension cases across the state.
According to the circular issued by finance department, nearly 2,200 pension cases in the education department alone are expected to remain pending as of March 31, 2026.
Of these, around 700 cases have not been finalized even after the employees' retirement. Taking note of the backlog, the finance (Pension) department has issued directions to conduct regular pension courts at the divisional level to ensure time-bound disposal.
The special courts will examine pending cases on the spot in the presence of departmental officers, treasury officials and representatives of pensioners' associations. Many participants will join through video conferencing. Records will be scrutinized during the hearings, and cases that can be resolved immediately will be disposed of without further delay.
The government clarified that policy-related matters and cases pending before courts will not be taken up in the pension courts.
Cases that can be resolved through normal administrative procedures will not be kept pending while awaiting the special hearings. Authorities said that most delays occur due to procedural lapses, technical errors or incomplete documentation, and the pension court system is aimed at removing these bottlenecks.
Pensioners will be able to submit applications through an online portal and other designated channels. During the hearings, officials will verify records and pass decisions in straightforward cases. In matters where documents are missing or procedural errors are identified, departments will be directed to complete the process under a time-bound action plan.
In addition, district-level review meetings will be held before the pension courts to assess the status of pending and overdue cases.
A detailed report will be submitted at the state level within one month of each Pension Court session to ensure monitoring and accountability....
