pvt schools to file appeal in hc against rte rules
Jaipur, Feb. 26 -- Around 30,000 private schools in the state are preparing to move the high court against the state goverment's latest guidelines to begin the application process under the Right to Education, citing a lack of clarity on the reimbursement process for fees at pre-primary level.
According to Hemlata Sharma, president of the School Kranti Sangh, "The high court has clearly directed that the government cannot force the private schools to give admission under RTE unless they ensure the fees will be reimbursed. But, there is still no clarity on our pending payments from the previous years while the government has also not issued any further guidelines revoking the 2020 order that refused to provide reimbursement."
She added that the latest guidelines also did not mention the reimbursement process.
The development followed the release of the education department's guidelines directing both the private and government schools to start the application process under RTE from February 20, with the lottery scheduled to be released on March 6.
In the earlier set of guidelines issued by the Congress government in 2020, the pre-primary level was kept outside RTE's ambit. The government had later clarified that private schools were allowed to reserve 25% seats for admission of students to economically weak backgrounds, but not entitled to reimbursement for the same....
