Jaipur/Udaipur, June 22 -- A day after the resident doctors in Udaipur and Jodhpur called for a complete work boycott for an indefinite period in protest against the deaths of two doctors in a week apart, around 650 more resident doctors in Ajmer's JLN Medical College have also joined the strike on Saturday demanding action against the accused. The president of the Ajmer Resident Doctors' Association, Dilraj Meena, said, "The resident doctor, Ravi Sharma, who had been working in Udaiour's RNT medical college, was electrocuted. His autopsy report was changed. We have joined the strike started by the Udaipur resident doctors. We will boycott our work daily for two hours. It will be continued for an indefinite period till Sharma gets justice." According to the officials, the incident occurred around 2 am on Wednesday night when Dr Ravi Sharma, a native of Makrana (Nagaur), was staying at the hostel with his cousin, Dr. Prashant. While trying to fetch water from a cooler placed in the hostel corridor, he came into contact with an electric current and collapsed. Other residents rushed to help, performed CPR, and took him to MB Hospital, where he was declared dead. His family was later informed and postmortem was conducted after their arrival. The doctors allege that complaints regarding the faulty water cooler had been submitted earlier, but no action was taken by the authorities. As soon as the news of Dr Ravi's death broke, resident doctors staged a protest and even locked the principal's office. They are demanding strict action and resignation of those responsible, including the hostel warden and the college principal. Since the incident, resident doctors have been protesting continuously, demanding justice, accountability, and proper financial compensation for the bereaved family. The protest has paralysed medical services at MB Hospital and other connected facilities in Udaipur. Meanwhile, the protest by resident doctors at Rabindranath Tagore (RNT) Medical College in Udaipur continues following the electrocution death of Dr. Ravi Sharma. The doctors staged a sit-in outside the mortuary last night and have now shifted their protest back to the administrative building of the college. Agriculture Minister Dr. Kirori Lal Meena visited the protest site and met with the agitating doctors. However, despite discussions, the doctors allege that none of their demands have been accepted in writing. "They say there's agreement on our demands, but we have received nothing official. Without written assurance, we cannot believe anything has been accepted," said a protest leader. According to the resident doctors, the Resident Doctors' Union held a meeting at 10pm on Thursday where it was decided that they would intensify the protest. Doctors had staged a sit-in at the mortuary overnight and resumed their agitation outside the administrative block on Friday morning with slogans and demonstrations. Former Union Secretary Jatin Prajapati stated, "Our primary demands are to conduct a re-postmortem and to ensure Rs.2 crore compensation for the deceased doctor's family as per their request." Meanwhile, a similar work boycott also continued in Jodhpur's SN Medical College by the resident doctors over the suicide of 30-year-old resident doctor Rakesh Bishnoi on June 13 due to alleged harassment by seenior doctor....
