Jaipur, Nov. 17 -- As the state gears up to host the first ever Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas in Jaipur on December 10, chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Sunday highlighted the event's importance and emphasised the diaspora's key contribution to the state's progress. Speaking to reporters in Jaipur, Sharma said that the event was intended to help foster connections across the diaspora in the country and abroad and help them reconnect with their roots while encouraging their contribution to development across sectors. "Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a developed India, Rajasthan is undergoing a phase of significant socio-economic transformation. Non-resident Rajasthanis play a key role in this process, and the upcoming event seeks to strengthen their involvement. As registrations opened, enthusiastic responses poured in from across the world," he said. The event will showcase Rajasthan's rich cultural heritage as well as its rapidly modernising identity, said the chief minister, adding that a special cultural evening based on folk traditions will be held to provide an emotional link between expatriates and their homeland. Alongside this, sectoral sessions will highlight developments and opportunities in crucial areas such as energy, tourism, education, industry, healthcare and water resources, he added. Sharma said that experts participating in these sessions will discuss the state's evolving industrial landscape, investment climate and emerging opportunities. "In the tourism session, specialists will speak about diversifying beyond traditional heritage tourism to adventure and water-based tourism. The education session will feature prominent diaspora achievers, while the health session will focus on advancements in medical, pharma and health technology sectors. The water resources session will cover new water structures and traditional conservation methods," he said. A special NRR Open House, featuring award-winning diaspora members from 26 Rajasthan Foundation chapters, will also be among the highlights, added the chief minister. In preparation for the event, the state government has introduced a participation framework to help Non-Resident Rajasthanis contribute more effectively to Rajasthan's development, said Sharma. This includes opportunities to support social infrastructure, health, education and rural development projects. To address concerns raised by diaspora members, Additional District Collectors have been designated as nodal officers in all districts, serving as single points of contact for NRR families, he said....
