Police: 3 held for killing 42-yr-old man in Jalore
Barmer/Jalore, June 16 -- Three people have been arrested in Jalore for allegedly killing a 42-year-old man on May 25, police said on Sunday.
Jalore district superintendent of police Gyanchand Yadav said that death of Narsaram, was initially believed to be a case of suicide but after the post mortem examination of the exhumed body, conducted on June 5, there were suspicions regarding his death.
"Bagoda SHO Hukmaram informed that the body was found hanging on May 25, with blood oozing from his head. His brother Doodaram Meghwal initially claimed it was a suicide and expressed suspicion toward Narsaram's wife, Mafi Devi. The following day, the family buried the body according to local customs. On May 28, Mafi reportedly confessed before village elders that she and her alleged lover, Sanwalaram, were responsible for the murder," he said.
"However, based on certain inputs, an investigation was initiated and on June 5, a team of four doctors conducted a post-mortem at the burial site. As the investigation progressed, inconsistencies in the earlier version of events began to emerge. The probe revealed that the murder was planned and executed by Doodaram Meghwal (35), his wife Kaili Devi (34), and her lover Ranjit Singh (40), a resident of Bagoda," the officer said.
Informing about the sequence of events, he said that during an engagement ceremony for Doodaram's granddaughters on May 23, tensions flared between Doodaram and his brother Narsaram. The argument escalated the following day. "During the dispute, Narsaram's wife alleged that Kaili Devi was having an affair with Ranjit Singh. Doodaram and Kaili, who feared public humiliation and social disgrace, plotted to eliminate both Narsaram and Mafi Devi," he said. He added that the three accused were arrested on late Saturday night and sent to judicial custody....
