Barmer, May 1 -- A 27-year-old man accused in a Pocso case attempted suicide inside a police station during questioning on Thursday in Barmer, police said. The incident occurred around 12.15 pm at the office of the Special Investigation Unit for Crimes Against Women (SIUCAW), police said. The accused had been arrested in connection with a POCSO case registered at the Women Police Station and was brought to the station for interrogation. According to police, while the accused's fingerprints were being taken, he suddenly picked up a paper cutter on the table and attacked his throat. Police immediately intervened, preventing further injury. The accused was bleeding and was rushed to a hospital. Meanwhile, Barmer ASP Nitesh Arya while confirming the incident said the injuries were not serious and the accused is stable. After treatment, he was brought back to the station.
