only Rs.528 crore released under NFSM to Raj in 5 years: Centre
Barmer, July 24 -- The central government had sanctioned a total of Rs.1,181.31 crore for Rajasthan under the National Food Security Mission (NFSM) during the five-year period from 2020-21 to 2024-25. However, only Rs.528.68 crore of this amount has been released to the state so far, according to the Union ministry of agriculture and farmers welfare.
This information was provided in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday by Union minister of state for agriculture and farmers welfare, Ramnath Thakur, in response to a written question by Barmer MP Ummedaram Beniwal.
MP asked whether the central government was providing input subsidies to farmers for Rabi and Kharif crops in Rajasthan, especially in districts like Jaisalmer, Barmer, and Bhinmal, and if so, the details thereof.
Responding to the question, the minister clarified that although the responsibility of providing input assistance for Rabi and Kharif crops lies with the state governments, "the central government continues to support farmers in Rajasthan through centrally sponsored schemes like the NFSM".
According to data, in 2020-21, out of Rs.230.96 crore sanctioned, Rs.104.25 crore was released. The following year saw Rs.159.50 crore sanctioned but only Rs.59 crore released. For 2022-23, the sanctioned amount was Rs.205.18 crore and Rs.97.26 crore was released. In 2023-24, Rs.269.88 crore was allocated and Rs.96.93 crore was disbursed. The current year, 2024-25, has so far seen Rs.277.99 crore sanctioned, of which Rs.119.94 crore has been released. The cumulative data reveals that less than 45 percent of the sanctioned amount has been disbursed to the state in five years....
