Jaipur, Nov. 27 -- The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Rajasthan, on Wednesday arrested Ramesh Chandra Bairagi, general manager of Tilam Sangh, Kota, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs.30,000, officials said, adding the action was carried out by the ACB Baran outpost after directions from ACB headquarters. According to DGP, ACB, Govind Gupta, the complainant had approached the Baran ACB office stating that Bairagi was demanding a bribe of Rs.1,45,000 in exchange for allotting the Minimum Support Price (MSP) procurement centre at Palaytha in Baran district. The demand reportedly included Rs.1,00,000 for the allotment and an additional Rs.45,000 calculated at Rs.1 per bag for 45,000 wheat bags purchased in the previous year. The Baran ACB team carried out a trap operation, during which Bairagi allegedly accepted Rs.30,000 from the complainant. Interrogation of the accused is underway under the supervision of ACB Additional DG Smita Srivastava. Searches at his residence are also being conducted.
