NYE rush: 1 nodal officer for each hotel, restaurant
Jaipur, Dec. 31 -- A constable or head constable will serve as a nodal police officer for every hotel, restaurant and bar in Jaipur as part of the Police Commissionerate's special safety and monitoring measures for New Year's Eve. The initiative aims to maintain peace, security and effective law and order across the city during the festive period.
The decision followed a coordination meeting at the Police Commissionerate, chaired by special police commissioner (SPC) Rahul Prakash and additional police commissioner (Law and Order) Rajeev Prachar, attended by hotel, restaurant and bar operators.
Addressing the participants, Rahul Prakash directed all establishments to make special arrangements for women's safety, keep CCTV cameras functional at all times and, wherever possible, deploy women security personnel. He also emphasised strict compliance with rules governing the use of DJs and microphones and reiterated the ban on hookah bars.
Expressing concern over the increase in drunk-driving incidents during New Year celebrations, the SPC said such behaviour poses a serious risk not only to drivers but also to other road users.
He added that ensuring road safety was "not just the responsibility of the police but also a moral and social duty of hospitality establishments."
As a preventive measure, every hotel, restaurant and bar will hand out a 3x3-inch pink slip displaying the message "Do not drink and drive" along with each bill at the time of exit. Additionally, four pink posters measuring 2x2.5 feet will be displayed prominently inside and outside the premises, with at least one poster required in the washroom area.
All Station House Officers have been directed to personally contact managers or administrators of hotels, restaurants and bars in their respective jurisdictions and encourage them to voluntarily print the slips and display the posters by December 30, 2025.
To ensure effective implementation and regular monitoring, a constable or head constable will be designated as the nodal police officer for each establishment. The officer will coordinate with management teams to ensure compliance and the smooth execution of the campaign.
According to the police administration, the initiative aims to curb road accidents during the New Year period, strengthen traffic safety, and promote a peaceful and secure environment across Jaipur....
