NHRC takes note of fan mishap that injured 2
Barmer, March 22 -- The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of an incident in which a ceiling fan fell inside a classroom of a government school in Barmer district, injuring two young students. NHRC has directed the district collector and superintendent of police to file a detailed report within two weeks.
According to NHRC's notice, the incident occurred on March 16 at a government school in Sansiyon Ka Tala village. A ceiling fan reportedly fell inside a classroom, leaving two children injured. Locals have alleged that the incident occurred due to negligence on the part of the school administration.
The commission has specifically asked the district authorities to include details about the health condition of the injured students and the action taken against those found responsible for the incident.
HT had reported earlier that the accident took place around 10 am on Monday, shortly after the morning assembly, when students had just entered their classroom. Suddenly, the ceiling fan, along with its hook, came crashing down on two children. The injured have been identified as Manish (5), a Class 1 student, and Manish (6), a Class 2 student.
School staff and local residents rushed the injured children to the Government District Hospital in Barmer, where they are currently in treatment....
