Alwar, April 18 -- A woman allegedly strangled her four-year-old daughter to death before attempting suicide in Alwar district on Friday, police said. According to police, the incident took place in the Rajgarh police station area at their home early in the morning. The case came to light when family members tried to wake the child for school. After repeated calls went unanswered, the woman opened the door, and relatives found her with deep cuts on both hands, while the child was lying unconscious nearby. Injury marks were also visible on the girl's neck, said police. According to the victim's uncle the entire family lives in the same house. He said the incident occurred around 6 am. "When the door was finally opened, she had injuries on her hands and the child was lying unconscious. There were marks on her neck," he said. Both were immediately rushed to the Rajgarh hospital, where doctors declared the four-year-old dead. The injured mother was referred to Alwar for further medical care. Rajgarh SHO Rajesh Meena reached the hospital with a police team and initiated an investigation. The child's body has been kept in the mortuary of the Rajgarh Community Health Centre for autopsy. The family has alleged that the mother strangled the child. A formal complaint has been lodged at Rajgarh police station, and probe is underway....
