Minor gang-raped, assaulted by 2 minors; 1 detained, probe underway
Jaipur, Sept. 2 -- A 15-year-old boy has been detained for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl, police officers aware of the matter said on Monday, adding that the girl has alleged gang rape, mentioning the involvement of another person who is yet to be identified, and said the two brutalised her.
Banswara SP Sudheer Joshi said the accused was sent to a juvenile home after he was detained on Sunday following a complaint from the girl's mother on August 22, when the girl was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Udaipur.
"The girl said the brutal injuries she had were caused due to an accident on August 21 when the accused was dropping her home. On Sunday, however, she mentioned the involvement of another unidentified person and said she was brutalised by the two. Further probe is underway," he said.
Joshi added that the accused and the girl studied in the same school. "On August 20, the two met after school. Later, the girl called her mother and said she would not return at night."
The next morning, her mother was informed on call that the girl was admitted at a local hospital in a critical condition.
"She immediately reached the hospital. The girl was referred to Udaipur for better treatment. She underwent a surgery on August 22, but remained critical. Meanwhile, her mother lodged an FIR against the accused."
A medical examination was conducted and police recorded the girl's statement.
