Jaipur, Oct. 7 -- Several districts of the state, including Jaipur, continued to witness intermittent rainfall over the weekend, despite the end of monsoon in the state, officials familiar with the matter said. The Met Department, in its Monday forecast, said scattered showers may persist in Jaipur, Bharatpur, Ajmer, Kota, and Udaipur on October 7, while river levels could rise by 3-5 feet in some areas. From October 8, most parts of the state are expected to turn predominantly dry, added the forecast. On Monday, Jaipur witnessed sustained heavy rainfall till around 3pm in the afternoon. Other districts, including Sikar, Kota, and Bikaner, also experienced intermittent rain. In Srikrishnapur, Sikar, the Panchali underpass was submerged under 5 to 6 feet of water, resulting in a Scorpio vehicle getting stuck, said officials, adding that several shops were waterlogged, and a pickup truck loaded with plastic tanks overturned in a water-filled pit near Surajpol Gate. Met department officials attributed the rainfall to an active western disturbance over North India and a weather system forming over the Bay of Bengal. The wet spell is expected to continue for the next two days across various parts of the state. The department also warned that due to the ongoing rainfall, water levels in rivers may rise by 3-5 feet in certain areas, advising local authorities to remain alert....
