MDMA unit operating as grocery shop busted, Rs.5-cr material seized
Jaipur, Feb. 3 -- Pratapgarh police have busted a secret MDMA manufacturing unit operating under the guise of a grocery shop and grain warehouse in the heart of Jaipur city, officers said.
The raid under Operation Chakravyuh led to the seizure of drugs and raw materials worth around Rs.5 crore, police said.
Acting on specific intelligence, a police team under the directions of superintendent of police B Aditya got a tip about strange activities behind Nakoda Kirana on Waterworks Road. They raided a secret room built inside the warehouse, police said.
As soon as the team entered the hidden chamber, officers felt severe eye irritation from the strong chemical smell inside. The search found a large quantity of drugs and a complete setup for making synthetic narcotics, police said.
They recovered 106g of pure MD drug and 114.750kg of liquid chemical used in its preparation. The seized items are worth nearly Rs.5 crore in the illegal market. Police also took drug-making gear like electronic and index heaters, blower machines, glass lab flasks, large jars, electronic weighing scales, special mixing machines, rubber gloves, and buckets.
Early checks show the accused ran the drug operation under cover of a grocery business. They fled before the raid and are still absconding.
Police have formed teams to raid suspected spots and arrest them. A case is registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS Act), with further investigation handed to Arnod police station SHO Shivlal....
