Bharatpur, Jan. 3 -- Police on Friday arrested the alleged mastermind behind the 2022 communal riots in Karauli for pelting stones at a bike rally organised on the occasion of Ram Navami, an officer said. Police had earlier arrested 54 persons in connection with the riots. Aminuddin Khan, 50, a resident of Ward No. 34, Karauli, was later identified as the key conspirator behind the incident. He was arrested from the Sub-District Jail in Hindaun City on a production warrant, said Karauli superintendent of police Lokesh Sonwal. During investigation, Khan was found to have planned the attack, reportedly in coordination with others targeting the rally. Khan had earlier been arrested by the Hindaun City Kotwali police on December 27, 2025, under Sections 112(2), 314(4), and 319(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 66 of the IT Act, after which a court sent him to judicial custody in Hindaun City Jail. On April 2, 2022, Hindu organisations held a bike rally to mark the festival.
