Barmer, Oct. 24 -- A man was allegedly murdered by his younger brother on Wednesday night in Barmer district after a heated argument spiralled into a physical confrontation, police said on Thursday. The incident took place in the Bijrad area around 11pm, said Magaram, station house officer at Bijrad police station. According to the police, the victim, 35-year-old Guneshram, and his younger brother, 30-year-old Kishanram, both residents of Nawatla village, were having an argument over money spent during their father's funeral, which took place three years ago. The quarrel escalated quickly, and in a fit of rage, Kishanram allegedly ttacked his elder brother with an axe from behind, striking the back of his head. Kishanram is currently absconding, said police. The body was shifted to the mortuary of Chauhatan Hospital, they said, adding that multiple police teams have launched a search operation to nab the absconding accused, although no case has been registered yet. Police said that further action will be taken based on the family's formal complaint. According to senior police officers aware of the matter, preliminary investigations revealed that Guneshram was a farmer and had lost his wife about six years ago in 2019. He had no children. Both brothers lived together in the same house with their elderly mother, Kishanram's wife, and children. Kishanram's wife was at her parental home at the time of the incident.
