Man held in Barmer for slashing wife's throat with sword: Police
Barmer, July 12 -- A man allegedly killed his wife by slitting her throat with a sword at Harsani village in Barmer district in early hours of Friday, police officers aware of the matter said, adding that the motive behind the murder remains unclear.
The accused, identified as Moim Khan, 37, attempted to flee to Jodhpur after killing Rahmat Moyla, 34. However, he was intercepted and taken into custody by police, said Manaram Garg, circle officer of Sheo.
Meanwhile, Rahmat's family members have also accused Khan's family members of being involved in the murder.
The incident took place around 3am. The family members discovered the murder later in the morning and alerted police, officers said.
Upon receiving the information, police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem examination.
Barmer superintendent of police Narendra Singh Meena said Khan had planned the murder in advance. "On Thursday, he went to the market and purchased the sword," he said.
Khan's family members told police that he is mentally disturbed. Police said Khan lived with his parents and three children in the village. On Thursday night, his parents were sleeping outside the house, while the children were asleep in the courtyard. Khan and his wife were in their room.
"Around 3am, Khan attacked his wife with the sword fatally. The murder came to light around 7am when family members entered the room and discovered Rahmat's body," SP Meena said.
Based on a complaint of Rajjab Ali, Rahmat's brother, an FIR has been registered under Section 103 (1) (Murder) and Section 3(5) (A criminal act done by several persons in furtherance of the common intention of all) of the BNS against Khan and his brothers....
