Man detained after his wife, 3 minor kids found dead in Churu
Jaipur, May 19 -- A 32-year-old man was detained on Sunday after the bodies of his 25-year-old wife and three children were found in a local pond and in a water tank in Rajasthan's Churu on Saturday night, police officers aware of the matter said on Sunday, adding that they suspected him of killing the victims.
Inspector of Churu's Sardarshahar police station Madan Lal Bishnoi said, "The incident came to light when the man returned to his house at 9pm on Saturday and claimed that his wife, Jethi Devi, and the children were missing. Later, their bodies were recovered from a pond and a nearby water tank. We have detained the man, Subhash Jat. Initial probe reveals that he killed them and threw their bodies into the water tank and pond."
According to police, the couple got married 10 years ago and had three children, identified as Ishika (5), Arushi (3), and Sanjay (1). "The accused used to allegedly beat his wife regularly after coming home drunk. The woman's brother alleged that he also used to thrash his children while being intoxicated," said Bishnoi.
"Jat had also threatened to kill Jethi during a fight nearly seven days ago," the officer added.
Bishnoi said, "The woman and the children were attacked with some blunt weapon as injury marks were found on the vicitms' bodies. However, any murder weapon have not been recovered yet."
The boies of Jethi and Ishika were found in the pond, while those of Arushi and Sanjay in the water tank, he said.
"After the bodies were recovered, Jat alleged that the woman died by suicide. The neighbours fished out the bodies from the tank, called Jethi's brother, Dungarmal, who arrived at the spot on Sunday morning and lodged a case against Jat," said SHO.
A case was lodged at Sardarshahar police station under section 103 (murder) of BNS....
