man chops off sister-in-law's nose, arrested
Bharatpur, Jan. 9 -- Bharatpur Police on Thursday arrested a man for allegedly cutting off his sister-in-law's nose following a dispute over land and the partition of a family home in Dholpur, police said. The incident took place on Wednesday evening in Tasimo village under Sempau police station limits.
Ajay Singh, assistant sub-inspector at Sempau police station, said the woman, Poonam Devi, lodged a complaint on Wednesday against her brother-in-law, Rohit Thakur, accusing him of attacking her and cutting off her nose. Police then arrested Rohit. The victim was taken to Sempau Hospital for medical examination and treatment, police added.
Devi stated in her complaint that her husband, Rahul Thakur, works as a daily wage labourer in Jodhpur, while she lives in the village with their children.
She alleged that a long-standing dispute over the division of the house led to the attack. Rohit along with his wife, Kamta Devi, allegedly assaulted her while she was talking on her mobile phone.
Poonam added that the accused had attacked her earlier as well over the same issue.
Police said Poonam was discharged from hospital after treatment....
