Udaipur, Dec. 2 -- A man was arrested on Monday for allegedly sexually abusing the daughter of a woman with whom he was in a live-in relationship, police said. Police officers aware of the matter said that on November 27, the victim's mother lodged a complaint stating that after separating from her husband, she had been living with her minor daughter and son in a live-in relationship with the accused. She alleged that the accused was raping her daughter for the past month and had also been intimidating her. Considering the seriousness of the case, Udaipur District Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal issued special directions for the arrest of the accused. Acting on the instructions, a team led by Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Umesh Ojha and Additional Superintendent of Police (Women Crime Investigation Cell) Madhuri Verma, under the supervision of Savina SHO Ajay Singh, began tracing the accused using technical surveillance and intelligence. A police officer aware of the matter said the man was taken into custody after absconding for a few days and formally arrested after interrogation. A case has been registered against him under sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offense s Act (, POCSO) and relevant sections of the BNS.
